Walking Club
Westwood Baptist Church has many keen hill walkers and ramblers among it’s congregation and we hold regular outings to various parts of the country. We try to encourage as many as possible to participate from the young to the young at heart, so we hold walks of varying types from family walks in country parks to Monroes.
As well as being a healthy activity this is also a great way to get to know one another whilst enjoying some great views and wonderful scenery in this beautiful country of ours. In the past two years we have held over a dozen walks and they have proved to be a great success. Many of our group are experienced walkers but we also have some new to this form of activity and others who just like the fellowship and walking and talking.
So whether you like challenging climbs or an easy few hours walking, please come and join us in some of our future outings.
Joe Agnew is our walk coordinator and he would be pleased to hear from anyone (not just our church folk) who would like to join us.

Joe in his element!
Apres Christmas -
A good day out on Saturday 29-

12th April 2008
On Saturday 12th April an all age group of 25 of us took part in our first walk of
the new season. We started at the Countryside Museum on Kittochside and took in
a route through Carmunnock village and up to the Cathkin Braes where you had views
over to Ben Lomond and Arran and also spectacular views of Glasgow. On the way back
we took in a new woodland walk that has been recently opened for the public. The
weather was very kind to us and it
was a most enjoyable day out for us all on our
own doorstep.
A week later John casement and I managed to do The Cobblers near Arrochar which was slightly more challenging. Again the weather was really kind to us with sunshine all the way although there was a fair amount of snow lying especially on the far side where it was over a foot deep for most of the descent.
